Curcuma longa is a flowering plant of the ginger family called Zingiberaceae. The root of the plant is known as rhizome and is referred to as ‘Turmeric’. Curcuminoids are active substances found in turmeric. Amongst the three curcuminoids, curcumin is the most important active substance in turmeric and constitutes over 2-12% of the content of raw Haldi.

Curcumin has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anticancer properties, besides its healing ability.

  • Free radicals are produced by body because of stress, illnesses and also enter the body via environmental pollutants, etc. They are responsible for causing more than 80% of aging-related diseases of the body. The antioxidant property of curcumin fights the free radicals. As a result old-age skin changes, indigestion, memory lapses and several other body disorders in elderly adults and old age can be benefitted.
  • The anti-inflammatory actions of curcumin helps tone down the swelling in joints, and strengthen the ligaments as well.
  • Minor infections of the body, and especially the sore throat, can be resolved by consuming curcumin.
  • The anticancer actions of turmeric are twofold – protecting against cancer, and in those with tumours – preventing their growth and spread.

Consuming ‘Haldi’ daily can provide innumerable benefits.

One of the most relevant modern times attributes of ‘Haldi’ is its ability to support immunity. Turmeric does not only increase antibodies production it can also enhance the protective T-cell activity.

Curcumin's reported beneficial effects in arthritis, allergy, asthma, atherosclerosis, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes and cancer might be due in part to its ability to modulate the immune system.

CANCER

Cancer is a group of diseases resulting from abnormal growth of cells causing formation of a tumor (a ‘lump’), and with the potential to spread to other parts and organs of the body (metastasis).

There are approximately 25 lakhs cancer patients living in India today. It is a frightening reality that one out of 10 Indian is a target for cancer!

Nearly half the cancer patients have Tobacco Related Cancer (TRC). The best known direct cause of cancer is either smoking or due to smokeless tobacco forms which include chewing pan / betel nut / areca nut, or consuming gutka or khaini.

such as faulty diets, obesity, lack of exercise, stress, pollution are also implicated but for 25% of all cancers there are no real reasons.

Cancers of lung, food pipe (esophagus), stomach, mouth (oral) and throat are predominant in men. In women, cancers of the cervix (lower portion of uterus) and breast are commonest, followed by those of stomach and esophagus.

Tobacco commonly causes mouth and lungs cancers; however, TRC also implicate the esophagus, voice box (larynx) and urinary bladder.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) 20 lakh new cancer patients will be detectable each year and nearly 50% of these will succumb to the disease. Thus, in spite of good advancements for diagnosis and treatment, cancer is still a big threat to society.

As per the proverb, “prevention is better than cure” the prevention strategies are crucial in cancer eradication.

Studied extensively by the University of Texas and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Canter, the Asian spice ‘Haldi’ is now a well-known beneficial food in cancer.

These ground-breaking studies found that the turmeric might just be one of the most effective common ingredients in the world for mitigating the cancer risk.

When ‘Haldi’ is being consumed the promised benefits accrue on account of its curcumin content. In India turmeric has 2-5% concentration of the active curcumin component.

One teaspoon can fit 3.18 gms of turmeric powder. Thus, taking one teaspoon of ‘Haldi’ powder at home gives the body 65-160 mg of curcumin.

If the curcumin has to provide the desired benefits, the minimum requirement is 0.5-1 gm per day approximately. Thus, only if 3-15 teaspoonful of ‘Haldi’ powder is consumed daily can the benefits of turmeric be real. If one finds such consumption each and every day of life cumbersome, an attractive option would be to consume extract of turmeric, which is rich in curcuminoids (and curcumin).

HALDICAN

HALDICAN Capsules ensures the goodness of turmeric by providing optimal quantities of curcuminoids; it also additionally ‘uniquely’ contains piperine as well as lycopene.

Curcumin provides three important properties that are beneficial in cancer:

a) Prevents the formation of tumor (cancer).Curcumin suppresses the cancer-causing genes as well as scavenges the free radicals (antioxidant action). Faulty diets, obesity, lack of exercise, stress and pollution are responsible for 25% for cancer and their main mechanism is by liberating free radicals.

b)Reduces the size of cancer. Curcumin blocks the cancer cell from multiplying and facilitates their programed death (apoptotic action).

c) Suppresses the spread of cancer. The inflammatory chemical called nuclear factor-kappa beta (NF-Kb) signals the cancer cells to spread to other parts of body (metastasis). Curcumin inhibits NF-Kb and thereby inhibit the metastasis process.

Piperine is black pepper (Piper nigrum) and this herb is a well-known spice. Piperine is known for changing uptake of various drugs and supplements when concomitantly taken.

If turmeric is to provide all the claimed benefits it needs to enter into the blood (be absorbed). Unfortunately, most do not realize that consuming raw ‘Haldi’, or its powder, results in its rapid destruction mostly by the wall of the intestines itself. Thus, contrary to popular beliefs, the small amounts of raw ‘Haldi’ powder consumed may be of uncertain health value.

Piperine, when given concomitantly with turmeric, increases curcumin’s availability in blood by 2000% and thereby provides enough concentrations to assure all the benefits of ‘Haldi’.

Lycopene is the bright red carotenoid pigment that is found in tomatoes and other red fruits and vegetables. Free radicals cause cancer by damaging the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) present in the nucleus of the cell. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant which protects the DNA against the damaging effects of these free radicals and thereby minimize the risk of cancer. Additionally, lycopene, in cancer sufferers, can limit the local growth of cancerous cells, facilitate destroying the cancer cells per se, and also can limit metastasis.

HALDICAN is safe when consumed as per recommendations. Allergic reactions can occur and, if very large amounts of ingredients of the product are taken there could be complaints such as stomachache, gas, nausea or indigestion.

Healthcare provider’s supervision is recommended if (a) other drugs whose absorption can increase due to piperine are being additionally consumed; (b) pregnant patients and lactating mothers intend taking curcumin, piperine and lycopene containing product.

HALDICAN is not advised for those allergic to any of its ingredient/s.

  • Enough curcumin per capsule is available to shield against cancer.
  • HALDICAN has piperine to ensure adequate availability of curcumin in the blood for its beneficial actions.
  • HALDICAN additionally incorporates lycopene, a known and proven powerful antioxidant.
  • Curcumin and lycopene have an anti-cancer protective role to play in those who regularly chewing pan / betel nut / areca nut, or consuming gutka / khaini and also those ‘tobacco’ smokers.
  • Besides, TRC, Beneficial anti-cancer actions of curcumin and lycopene are also documented against many other cancers of the body.
  • HALDICAN is convenient to consume regularly as capsules since it could be cumbersome or inconvenient to take 3-15 teaspoon of ‘Haldi’ on an everyday basis.

Take one capsule of HALDICAN once or twice daily for its overall health supportive value. Those suffering from cancer need to consume 7-8 capsules of HALDICAN daily as adjuvant to avail of the optimal benefit of curcumin and lycopene.

HALDICAN is available in packs of bottles containing 200 capsules.

HALDICAN can be kept in normal room conditions of humidity and temperature (preferably below 250C). HALDICAN SHOULD BE KEPT out of reach of children.
